Hotmail on Linux: circumvent the false alarm upgrade browser
By DEP | October 5, 2008
Here I am. I know, I write a lot less often. 5 but follow university courses in English without having the least expected you suck a little bit of resources. To tell the truth all too many;)
But the notice to the nonsense: we come to the point. All those of us who know that a bloody hotmail account is quite impossible (at least long difficult) to integrate the receipt of mail in Thunderbird. And perhaps like me, check their email from loyal Mozilla Firefox. But any Linux distribution you have, you will have noticed that you are informed that in order to "turn" Windows Live Mail you must update your browser. Yes, its latest release qul browser you have on. Course who is wrong and Microsoft, and we'll understand that we have the right:
- go in the address bar and type about: config and we send
- click on "I'll care, I promise": P
- insert the line filters your search word vendor and we send
- the results obtained, for each double-click on the item and delete the contents of the string.
- close the window and restart Firefox
- we access your Hotmail inbox:)
what we have done is simply to remove from Firefox, the data on the operating system running on, information that seems to matter so much to prevent Microsoft from going to easily check email.

Hello,
but in doing so there is no danger that the addition of an add-on firefox fails to install the right one for your operating system?

I just tried ...
The addons are installed without any problem ...
: D
Now lacks only the problem of emesene who can not do auto login in hotmail ... and all came back good as before ...: D

I use Thunderbird with the Webmail extension. It works perfectly, like having an account normal.

webmail you install, reboot, install hotmail, restart, create a new webmail account.
You did. hello

The problem is not the fact of using Linux. The above page shows me at home with Ubuntu in the office with windows xp.

Strange ... it is up to date version of browser you use on windows? Why not try it on Vista out any warning whatsoever.

Excuse the ignorance but I do not know where to insert the word ... vendors ... that is in the file ... and there are 1000 skis quel'è the right one ^

@ Daniel:
below the address bar (the one where you enter about: config) there is a white line next to the word "Filter:". You must enter the string there vendors.

To me it is enough to remove "Ubuntu" as the value of the string
general.useragent.vendor
and Hotmail have begun to function
leaving intact the other two strings (the one that says intrepid and 8.10 in my case).
As you drop down the Microsoft.
Probably in a few days you will excuse imputing to a bug disservice.
